Privacy policy
What we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have — written in plain language, not dense legalese.
1. Overview
GoHotelly ("we", "our") helps travelers discover hotels through editorial, review-led pages, and helps hoteliers present their properties online. This policy explains what personal data we handle when you use our website and services.
We try to collect as little personal data as possible. When we do collect something, we want you to know exactly why.
2. Data we collect
We collect data in three ways:
Data you give us directly
- Contact information when you email us, submit a form, or pitch an article
- Hotelier account information when you request access to the hotel page builder
- Review content you voluntarily submit about a hotel
Data collected automatically
- Basic analytics: pages viewed, device type, approximate region, referrer
- Session identifiers needed to keep our site functional
Data from third parties
- Aggregated click-through data from booking partners, used to improve our hotel pages
3. How we use data
We use the data we collect to:
- Operate and improve GoHotelly, including the hotel pages and editorial content
- Respond to your emails, support requests, and hotelier applications
- Understand which articles and hotel pages are most useful to travelers
- Prevent abuse, fraud, and spam submissions
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising outside GoHotelly.
5. Booking partners
When you click a "Check availability" or "Compare prices" button on a hotel page, you are redirected to a third-party booking platform (e.g., Booking.com, Agoda). A tracking parameter is passed so the partner can credit the referral to GoHotelly.
Once you land on the partner site, their privacy policy applies. We do not receive your booking details, payment information, or personal account information from them.
We do not pass your personal information to booking partners. We only pass a referral tag.
7. How long we keep data
We keep personal data only as long as we have a clear reason to. Concretely:
- Contact form messages: up to 24 months after the last reply
- Hotelier accounts: while active, plus 36 months after closure
- Review submissions: for the lifetime of the hotel page, unless you request removal
- Aggregated analytics: retained in anonymized form
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Ask us to delete your data
- Object to or limit certain uses
- Port your data to another service
To exercise any of these, write to us at the address below. We aim to respond within 30 days.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect personal data — encrypted transport (HTTPS), restricted access to production systems, and regular security reviews. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously.
10. Policy updates
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll post a notice on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use of GoHotelly after an update means you accept the revised policy.
11. Contact us
For any privacy-related question, contact us at contact@gohotelly.com or via our contact page. We read every message.
